The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food administers several grants to help further the development of the state’s agricultural and food industries. Information on open grants and previous grant programs can be found below.

Open Grants

LeRay McAllister Working Farm and Ranch Fund

This program uses money appropriated by the Legislature to fund the purchase of conservation easements on working farm and ranch lands. Application Window: Now open through August 31st, 2026.

Utah Food Security Grant

Open to producers, cooperatives, for-profit and non-profit, local governments, schools, and other organizations that submit projects to strengthen rural agricultural production, processing, storage, distribution, market access, and local food promotion. Application Window: Now open through August 31, 2026.

Utah Grazing Improvement Program Grant

Open to livestock operations, providing cost-share grants for projects that improve rangeland management and sustainability. Application Window: Now open through December 31st, 2026.

A Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) is a federal identification number issued through SAM.gov. It is free to obtain and is required for many federal grant opportunities.

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF), in cooperation with the Division of Water Quality (DWQ), started AgVIP to help farming operations develop a conservation plan for their property and begin to implement practices that will improve crop yields, build soil health, and protect water quality. Participants in the Voluntary Agricultural Incentive Program will be able to work with conservation planners from UDAF to discuss their agricultural operation, complete an annual conservation assessment, explore new practices suited to their operation, and receive a comprehensive, customized conservation plan.

The Invasive Species Mitigation Weed Control Grant is intended to fund weed control projects with a high probability of success in the State of Utah.
Eligible projects include early detection & rapid response; critical treatment for larger area protection; monitoring, prevention, and rehabilitation; and research related to invasive species.
Projects will be funded for the current year with the possibility of renewing funding for multi-year projects.

Eligible applicants include producers, schools, trade associations, non-profits, farmers markets, farming and ranching co-ops, etc. headquartered in Utah.
Eligible projects must benefit more than one producer or organization and may include a broad range of focus such as improving marketing, research, training, certifications, plant health, etc. for specialty crops.

- Increase the amount of available pollinator habitat throughout Utah
- Enhance and expand existing landscapes to improve resources (pollen and nectar) available for pollinators
- Provide better connectivity between habitats to better support beneficial species
- Increase access and availability of native seed resources across the state
- Increase public awareness and involvement to improve pollinator habitat state-wide
