Academic Medical Cannabis Research

We are currently taking applications for medical cannabis academic research.

An applicant shall submit the following fees: 

• Establishment license application – $250.00 (application review)
• Medical cannabis research university license fee – $2,500.00 (once application is approved)

Before issuing a license, the department shall inspect the proposed research location to determine if the applicant complies with state law and this rule. An incomplete or incorrect application will be rejected and not considered by the department. (R66-8-3(8))

An academic medical cannabis research license allows a research university to obtain, cultivate, process, and possess cannabis for medical cannabis academic research under Utah Administrative Rule R66-8-1 and Utah Code 4-41a-901.
