(Salt Lake City) Associated Foods is working tirelessly with Utah farmers and food manufacturers. The Associated Food Show, which runs through today at the Salt Palace Convention Center, has highlighted the local food community by providing entire sections of Utah companies so Associated Food Stores (AFS) buyers from throughout the Intermountain West attending the show can easily locate them. Pop up banners next to each booth tell the company’s story and display pictures of the owners.
“We are thrilled that Associated Foods is reaching out in a big way to work with our local farmers and manufacturers,” said Laurie Seron, Utah’s Own program director, Utah Department of Agriculture and Food. “Helping to grow our local food businesses gives back in a big way to our state’s economy. By spending just 10% more on local food, it puts $1.3 billion back into our economy.”
“AFS was honored to host Utah’s Own in our food show this year. We truly value what local means to the community and we look forward to strengthening the partnership in the future,” said Mindy Rich, Senior Category Manager, Associated Food Stores.
Approximately 45 Utah’s Own companies are represented at the two-day regional food show including Apple Beer, Slide Ridge Honey and Wasatch Nectar.
