Livestock Auction Closes
Buyers with unpaid
checks are requested to contact UDAF or USDA
The Ogden Livestock
Auction in Farr West, Utah has permanently closed its operation and voluntarily
withdrawn its bond with the Utah Department of Agriculture and food. The
closure may have left certain livestock sellers with checks that cannot
be honored by their bank. The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food
and the U.S. Department of Agriculture are urging customers with such
checks to contact either agency as soon as possible. The public may file
to recover any funds lost because of the closure, provided a claim is
initiated within 60 days of the time of sale.
Contact Seth Winterton
at the UDAF (801) 538-7141 or Marlis Sahlin at the Denver, Colorado office
of the USDA's Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration
at (303) 294-7050 for more information.
"We regret any
inconvenience the auction's closure may cause, as well as the loss of
the auction market and the service it provides to the public," said
Winterton, UDAF Compliance Specialist.
This closure only
affects the Ogden Livestock Auction in Farr West, Utah. It does not affect
the Weber Livestock Auction in Ogden.
