ATTENTION!! The current pesticide license testing system and education/study materials on this website will be discontinued October 31, 2017.
Starting November 1, 2017 all training materials and testing will be provided by Utah State University Extension. Further details will be posted on this page at that time.
UDAF will continue to license and regulate the pesticide community.
If you are applying any pesticides on land other than your own, the State of Utah requires each individual to obtain a Commercial Pesticide License. Non-commercial licenses typically are for those who apply Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP) government employers, or for other employers on their own property. Private Licenses are for RUP applications by farmers and ranchers on their own property, including gardens, orchards and similar agricultural endeavors.
Pesticides include herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides along with several other classifications.
After you pass the exam, this material is what commercial applicators will be required to know.

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food administers the Utah Pesticide Control Act, which regulates the registration and use of pesticides in Utah. This Act authorizes pesticide registration requirements and the pesticide applicator certification program. UDAF has primacy for pesticide enforcement under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) in Utah. UDAF administers sections of FIFRA under which programs are developed and implemented by cooperative grant agreements with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). These programs include the Worker Protection Program, Endangered Species Program, Ground Water/Pesticide Protection Program, Certification Program, and Pesticide Enforcement. The Utah pesticide program has been working with Utah pesticide businesses, government agencies and farmers over a hundred years by overseeing the application of pesticides throughout our beautiful state. Our Pesticide website has information and links for first time licensees, returning pesticide licensees, pesticide business licensees and pesticide product registration. These links provide further detailed information to help aid in answering your pesticide related questions. Enjoy your time exploring our site and thank you for visiting the State of Utah Pesticide website.
