Cody James Named Livestock Brand Bureau Chief
Cody James is the newly appointed Brand Bureau Chief for Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF). The Brands Bureau oversees a variety of responsibilities relating to livestock brand inspection, recording and identification as well as theft recovery. UDAF Commissioner, Leonard Blackham made the appointment with the concurrence of the State Brands Board.
Cody is looking forward to sustaining the competence of the excellent field staff. His new assignment comes following six years as the lead investigator in Plant Industry’s Pesticide Program.
Cody assures an open relationship with the livestock associations of Utah and will be a willing partner with the livestock industry.
He received a B.I.S Degree in Agriculture Science and Industry from Southern Utah University in 2003. . Cody grew up in Tooele, Utah breeding, training, and showing Quarter Horses. He has been training horses since he was fourteen years old and has had the opportunity to work with the areas top trainers. Cody is also involved in several aspects of the horse industry throughout the state, he is a Utah State Western Riding Club Certified Judge, Past President of the Tooele Bit and Spur Riding Club, and is now involved in several junior rodeo associations. Cody is also a member of national associations such as: American Quarter Horse Association, National Cutting Horse Association, National Reigning Horse Association, and is a certified equine appraiser.
Cody has been married to Carin for 6 ½ years and is the father of two girls, Vivian and Arica, and a son, Cooper.
