Unwanted Pesticides Collection Nets UDAF Nearly 9 Tons of Material
Popular one-day program located in Santaquin, Utah this year
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food’s popular unwanted pesticide collection program successfully took nearly nine tons of material off the hands of 30 owners this year. A total of 17,862 pounds of pesticides or other potentially harmful materials were dropped off at the Santaquin, Utah Department of Transportation shed on Tuesday, April, 22, 2008. The program saves citizens thousands of dollars in disposal fees, and assures the proper disposal of these unused or unwanted materials.
The program began in 1993 and has collected nearly 100 tons of unused pesticide from dozens of locations throughout the state. The program may be repeated next year, depending on need.
