Utah State University Study:
Utah Agriculture Contributes More Than 15% to State’s Economy

 

WHAT: USU study author Dr. Ruby Ward (Applied Economics Dept.) will discuss findings of the latest comprehensive study of Utah agriculture’s contribution to the State of Utah’s overall economy.  
Utah agriculture contributes jobs, income, fiscal revenue, and quality of life to both rural and urban Utahns.
Agriculture’s Recession recovery (2009 – 2014) outpaces state’s overall recovery rate.

Study Highlights:
•    The 2014 agricultural production and processing sectors together account for $21.2 billion in total economic output in Utah after adjusting for multiplier effects
•    Utah agriculture accounts for 15.1% of total state output and
•    more than 79,000 jobs
