Regulatory Services Division Director Named



 Salt Lake City – Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) Commissioner LuAnn Adams announced the appointment of Travis Waller as Director of the Division of Regulatory Services.  Waller will oversee the Division’s 49 employees who perform a variety of food safety and consumer regulatory functions.  Waller has spent 15 years in the food industry, nine years of which were in management positions. He is the former Director of Food Safety and Environmental Affairs for Associated Food Stores, Inc., and a former UDAF Food Safety Compliance Officer.

“Assuring consumer confidence in our food supply is one of the driving forces of the Department of Agriculture and Food, and a mission I take seriously,” said Waller.  “I am excited to rejoin this agency that sees food safety as a farm to fork responsibility,” he added.

Waller’s focus will be to assure that the Division of Regulatory Services uses its resources wisely in order to provide the citizens and industry of this State the highest level of services.

“Travis has experience in both the food retailing industry and in state government which makes him a valued team member to the Department,” said Commissioner Adams.   “Food safety is one of our prime responsibilities, and I feel very confident that Travis can continue our successes”, added Commissioner Adams.

The Division of Regulatory Services is responsible for a number of food-safety oriented duties such as: retail food inspection; egg and poultry product inspection; weights and measures assurance; meat safety compliance; dairy compliance; proper food labeling; and more.
