Utah Agriculture To Be Showcased During 2018 Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City

(Salt Lake City) Newly elected president of the Western Association of State Departments of Agriculture (WASDA), LuAnn Adams, has assumed the leadership of the 15 state and territory organization during the 2017 annual meeting of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) in New Orleans, Louisiana September 14, 2017. 

Through its programs at the national and regional levels, WASDA works to ensure food safety, combat the spread of disease, foster economic vitality of rural communities, and protect the environment.   WASDA is comprised of the secretaries, directors and commissioners of state departments of agriculture from: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming and the territories of Guam and Samoa.

     As president of WASDA, Utah Agriculture Commissioner Adams is preparing for the association’s 2018 annual meeting set for August 5 -10 in Salt Lake City which will address timely policy issues that affect western agricultural practices.

     “I am thrilled to host next year's annual meeting in Utah," said Commissioner Adams.  "We plan to show off our state's agriculture industry which is known for its innovation and collaboration,” she added.

     Utah is also known for its spectacular national and state parks where millions of visitors experience our unique outdoor wonders, Adams said.
