Entrepreneurship Summit Comes to Logan. Summit will highlight how Utah food businesses can market and grow their companies
Logan will host Cache County’s first Utah’s Own Economic Summit intended to acquaint local companies with the resources that are available to them through their Utah Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Cache Business Resource Center (BRC) and the Utah’s Own Program. Food-oriented companies are especially invited to hear from industry experts on how to market and grow their businesses.
Where: Riverwoods Conference Center, 615 Riverwoods Parkway, Logan Utah.
Why: To help area businesses expand, add jobs, purchase more products from local farmers and ranchers, and improve rural Utah’s economy. Registration with the Utah’s Own program is free.
Who: Presentations and information will be provided by: Luann Adams, Commissioner of the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food; Jed Christenson, Director of the Utah’s Own Program; Karin Allen, PhD, Food Quality and Entrepreneurship Specialist, USU Extension; Mike Young, Logan SBDC; and, Cindy Roberts, Cache BRC. All are invited to attend the Summit which will provide an overview about the Utah’s Own Program and learn about resources available to businesses. Attendees will also hear from successful Utah’s Own members in Cache County such as Slide Ridge Honey and Fat Boy Ice Cream about how the Program has helped them be successful.
About Utah’s Own: Utah’s Own’s mission is to create a strong consumer culture that seeks and buys local agriculture and food products. In partnership with local SBDC’s, BRC’s and County Economic Development Offices, Utah’s Own is continuing along its path across Utah to bring its message to the food-oriented businesses, restaurants, and retail stores in Northern Utah.
Utah’s Own has recently held successful Summits in Box Elder, Tooele, Kane, and Sevier Counties where audiences came to hear tips on how to grow their companies and the area economy. All area businesses, including restaurants, caterers and owners/managers of retail stores and outlets are encouraged to attend the event.
According to the Utah’s Own Website, one dollar spent on local products adds two to as much as six dollars to our economy, reduces our carbon footprint, and protects agricultural lands and watersheds. Additionally, Utah’s Own, SBDC, BRC and local economic development offices are dedicated to seeing local businesses thrive. The Summit will provide food-oriented businesses the opportunity to network and learn from economic experts, experienced good business owners, and business advisors.
