Taste of Utah  - 4th Annual Event

The 4th annual Taste of Utah event, hosted by the Utah's Own program of the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, helped kick off the Utah State Fair in style with a day of free sampling of some of the best food products and fresh produce the Beehive State has to offer.

Nearly 40 companies staffed booths during the opening day event. New this year, board members from the Great Salt Lake RC&D, who sponsor the CSA Utah website, sampled fresh produce from three local farms that have community supported agriculture programs.

"We think it's important people see what's being produced in Utah," said Seth Winterton, Utah's Own program director. "It's also important that they understand the quality of the food that

is here, and that they can identify face to face with a lot of our                                                        producers who are making the food."

Many of the individual projects of the Utah's Own program revolve around giving companies exposure to the public.   Some of those participating in the Taste of Utah event  estimate they gave out about 4,000 samples throughout the day.
