Elk ownership inspection is required:
- Before moving
the elk off the farm - for sale, movement out of state, transfer to
new facility, or
slaughter (see exception below) - Horns - inspection is required before transporting off farm
Elk ownership inspection is not required:
- If moving elk to secondary pasture within 10 miles of main farm

Please call your local Brand Inspector at least
24 hours in advance to schedule an inspection. Brand inspections are
conducted only during daylight hours.
Transportation Rule - Owner/Transporter must have an official Brand Inspection Certificate or other proof of ownership in his/her possession.
