Permit Requirements for Holding Raccoons and Coyotes in Captivity for Educational Purposes
Pursuant to Rule 58-14-03(B) and Utah Code, Section 4-23-11, the Utah Department of Agriculture has established the following requirements for obtaining a permit to hold raccoons or coyotes in captivity for educational purposes. The Department consulted with the Division of Wildlife Resources and the Department of Health to establish these requirements, which are intended to protect the health and safety of individuals. Applicants who meet all these requirements will be considered for a permit to hold a particular animal in captivity. Permits will be valid for one year, and an annual review of all applications will be required. Permits are not transferable.
